Student visa changes

The Department of Home Affairs has just announced that they are implementing a range of changes to student visas. These changes aim to support international students who wish to continue or commence their studies in Australia.

Nil-fee student visas (no fee)

The following applies to students who held a valid student visa on or after February 1 2020, and who could not complete their studies due to COVID-19. You can now apply online through your ImmiAccount for a new student visa application.

To submit a valid Student visa application eligible for a nil fee, students must provide a completed Form 1545 COVID-19 Impacted Student signed by their Education Provider with their Student visa application. If you do not provided a Form 1545, your application will be invalid and cancelled.

This offer is available from 6th August 2020, and is valid regardless of whether you are currently in Australia, or have already returned home. (If you fulfil the eligibility criteria)

Refunds will not be available for students who have already applied for a student visa. This offer is only for new applications.
