Discover English was formed in Melbourne in February 2010 with the objective of being one of Australia’s premier English language colleges. The college opened in June 2010. 

 

Through the broad experience within the international education industry through teaching, marketing, administration and management, the team possesses unique and relevant skills to build a successful college. We are determined that our courses be delivered by only the best teachers using the latest materials and methodologies.

 

The staff at Discover English have worked with many universities, colleges and education agents, utilising the resources of these associates. The staff demonstrate competency in all aspects of successful college management and are passionately committed to the business.

 

In October 2012 Discover English was acquired by Academies Australasia and is now part of an education group with over 100 years’ experience in education.

The college was shortlisted as a finalist in English Language Training, Student Support and Student Experience in the 2013 Victorian International Education Awards. The judging panel highly commended Discover English for student support – especially for its strong engagement with international students in an innovative program. The VIEA are designed to promote and reward outstanding achievement and excellence among students and education providers in Victoria.

 

Moreover, Discover English was recognised as Best New Examination Centre from Cambridge Assessment English in 2017, and was a finalist at the Victorian International Education Awards 2018 in the Excellence in International Student Experience Category.

 

In 2025, Discover English was shortlisted as a finalist in the Language Training Provider of the Year category at the @PIEoneerAwards 2025, an international awards program celebrating innovation and achievement across global education.

 

This nomination recognises the outstanding impact of “Daborra-ma: Creating Cultural Connections and Belonging through Storytelling and Sport,” a program launched in 2024 to help international students build cultural confidence, community belonging, and real-world English skills.
