What is Hotel Internship?


Hotel Internship is paid work experience at 4 or 5 *** hotels or resorts in Australia.
After studying at Discover English, you will have the opportunity to work and live for 6 months at one of the best hotels or resorts in Australia. It will help to improve your English, and you will gain valuable work experience outside your home country. You might also enter in a lifelong friendship with colleagues from Australia and overseas. Job positions include: housekeeping, laundry, kitchen hand, PA, Cook, Food and Beverage attendant and maintenance.
 

Application procedures


Level Test in home country to assess English level
Submit Discover English application form with Hotel Internship application
Discover English to issue letter of offer
Commence study at Discover English
Telephone/skype interview with Hotel HR Consultants, either during the English course or upon the completion of the English course, this also may be arranged 4 to 6 weeks after the completion of the English course
If the interview is successful, student will start in 1 or 2 weeks depending on the employer.
If the 1st interview is unsucessful, a 2nd interview will be arranged in the following 2 to 3 weeks
 

Program details:


6 months Internship at four or five star hotels or resorts in Australia
Guaranteed minimum wages plus 9.5% superannuation
Guaranteed working hours: minimum 20 hours per week

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum level: High Pre-Intermediate

Minimum 5 weeks study at Discover English

Minimum 6 months valid visa to cover full duration of the internship 

COURSE DURATION

Minimum 4 months, 6 months preferable

6-8 weeks

$1,500 (non-refundable)

Activities

The monthly activities calendar offers an exciting array of activities 7 days a week including: Salsa dancing, winery tours, weekend camping trips and sporting or cultural events

Cambridge Club

Get to know all your fellow Cambridge students in the Cambridge study group. A room is permanently allocated for study group or self-study needs.

Assessment

Progress assessment is ongoing and includes weekly progress tests, regular review tests and a range of assignments, presentations and homework exercises.

Supervised Self-study

A teacher is in the library in supervised self-access periods to assist students with homework, resumes and questions from class.

Extras

Five hours a week of free extra classes are available to all students. Extra classes include: Pronunciation, TOEIC, Academic English, Vocabulary and Conversation.

Weekly Feedback

Teachers provide students with weekly feedback on their progress in one-to-one meetings and advise on how to improve in areas of weakness and build on current strengths.
