General English and IELTS preparation courses at Discover English start every Monday so you can start anytime you like! For Cambridge ESOL and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) start dates please see our Courses.
It’s up to you! You can study from one week to one hundred weeks, your choice. You can complete our short online placement test and we will assess your proficiency level and recommend a course suitable for you.

Commencement and orientation for new students starts from 8:00am. Please bring your letter of offer or Confirmation of Enrolment, passport and visa copy. You will take a placement test so we can assess your level and assign you to the appropriate class. All students have to attend a comprehensive orientation. We will give you a campus tour and introduce you to the key staff members. To finish off we will take you for a quick walking tour of Melbourne city.

Melbourne is a reasonably priced major city with a range of living options. As a guide, you will need a
minimum of $20,290* (excluding tuition) per year to cover accommodation, daily living costs, health services and other expenses. The amount of money you bring is a personal choice, but you must ensure you have enough money to cover certain typical expenses, for example:
Share accommodation: $140 – $200 p/w (bond usually: 4 weeks rent (payable as a deposit)
